Columbus, OH
<< Back to Project List
The owners of this residence in Columbus love their Clintonville neighborhood, and want to make this property their forever home. However, the 1950’s one-story ranch style home is too small for their family. On the first floor, RKA proposes to; add an addition to the kitchen, making it much more functional and spacious, renovate and expand the primary suite with a new walk-in closet and a home office addition, new powder room; and by sacrificing a bedroom space is provided for larger living and dining spaces. The new second floor vertical expansion includes; two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and open study space. The new raised and sloped ceiling in the living and dining spaces, provides a double height space connecting the first and second floors. This open space is highlighted with the inclusion of numerous clerestory windows, which flood the space with natural light, and an open stair and mezzanine. The exterior of the home features a fresh, new contemporary style with multiple materials used to subtly distinguish the additions, and second floor expansion, from the original home.
