Maple Grove United Methodist Church

<< Back to Project List
Maple Grove UMC commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. for the design of the renovations to the Sanctuary and the Chapel of this 70 year old facility. The church’s goals were to improve the lighting, sound quality, accessibility and flexibility of the worship spaces, while preserving the traditional qualities of the masonry and heavy timber structure.

In the Sanctuary, the Chancel platform was reconfigured and extended into the Sanctuary to provide additional space on the raised floor area. The fixed railings and pews were removed from the Chancel to provide for the flexibility to accommodate various worship service activities. The choir risers, choir chairs, pulpit, lectern, communion table and baptismal font will be movable in order to maximize the flexibility of the Chancel. The project included the addition of a lift in the Chancel and the removal to improve wheelchair accessibility. A retractable projection screen was located in the Chancel and flat panel monitors were located in the transepts to provide opportunities for projected text and images during various worship services and concerts.
