Asbury United Methodist Church
Delaware, OH
<< Back to Project List
Originally constructed in 1888, this beautiful Romanesque church was in need of an elevator, accessible restrooms, more administration space and a new front door. The addition was designed to be harmonious with the massing, materials and details of the original building. Arriving at a new corner porch adjacent to the parking lot, visitors are greeted by the staff in the new administration offices and directed to the worship, education and fellowship spaces throughout the building. Original stained glass panels were removed from the south windows of the Great Room and reinstalled in new windows in the new library. The colors and patterns of these beautiful windows become a multi-layered kaleidoscope as they are reflected in the glass of the lobby, administration offices and Great Room.
