CHURCH OF THE MESSIAH UNITED METHODIST
Westerville, OH
<< Back to Project List
Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. designed a Master Plan to renovate and expand the existing facilities at Church of the Messiah in Westerville, Ohio. The project includes two areas of expansion and renovation in order to accommodate Gathering and Chancel activities.

New Gathering spaces are located along the front of the building adjacent to the new entrance. Ample windows provide daylight and good visibility of the activities within the building. In response to the streetscape of Uptown Westerville, the Gathering addition extends the building to the edge of the existing sidewalk. The massing of the addition responds to the existing chapel and courtyard as well as the scale of neighboring buildings. The design provides a transition from the historic Uptown district (to the south) to the residential neighborhood (to the north).

The Chancel expansion allows for more flexibility in accommodating various worship activities. A new north transept is designed to bring natural light into the chancel area. A series of ramps are designed to provide accessibility between the exterior entrance, west narthex, sanctuary, and chancel floor levels.
