Designed as a summer cottage and a place for the family holiday gatherings, this small home opens up to the panoramic views of Pickerel Lake in the northern regions of the lower peninsula. Three shaded porches extend the first floor living areas. The sheltering entry porch welcomes visitors while the shaded lakeside porches capture the shoreline breezes.
As the winds turn colder in the winter months, the fireplace in the great room becomes the heart of the house. The afternoon sunlight streams into the great room windows. While the plan is fairly compact, the openness of the kitchen, dining and great room areas creates appropriate spaces for family activities. The two bedrooms and bath on the second floor accommodate guests within the dormered roof form.
